Situation Handler

So to get things started lets start with some of the basics that make me who I am.

Rules to live by: (No not Gibb’s Rules (NCIS anyone?) Monica’s Rules)

1. Do what you say you’re going to do.

2. Do it when you say you’re going to do it.

3. Do it right the first time.

Don’t say it if you don’t plan to do it, set a time frame and DO IT. I detest doing anything over again. It takes far less time to do it right the first time then to do it hastily and have to cover ground you’ve already covered.

I have grown tired of others telling me what I want to hear to shut me up so I’ll move on to something else. Don’t try to placate me with a solution that you have no intention of putting into place. This leads me to my newest words to live by, courtesy of my boss’s brother.

If you have a problem that is not EVER going to go away, you no longer have a problem, you have a situation. Simply handle the situation. In the couple weeks since my boss shared these words of wisdom, I have become the situation handler.

It’s really funny how changing what we call it has somehow empowered me to move ahead. I don’t know how long this can last, but my stress level has fallen to the basement level and so far I haven’t experienced any flare ups. I only wish my co-workers and friends could benefit from this simple mindset.

  1. Well as we know I have a few of my own problems that are never going to go away, so I guess I too now have no problems, only situations to handle. Thanks for these wise words...I am going to put them into practice...TONIGHT!!!
